Intel(R) Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager (HAXM) with Intel(R) Virtualization Technology (VT) Version: Alpha Release date: April 9,2012 ---------------------------- Release Notes ---------------------------- Intel is proud to announce the first release of the Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager (HAXM), a hardware-assisted virtualization engine (hypervisor) that uses Intel(R) Virtualization Technology (VT) to speed up Tizen* development. -Uses Intel VT, avaliable on select Intel processors -Provides hardware-accelerated emulation of Tizen x86 images ---------------------------- Prerequisites ---------------------------- Intel(R) HAXM requires the Tizen SDK to be installed. Please refer to the Tizen developer website (https://developer.tizen.org/sdk) for more information. ---------------------------- System Requirements ---------------------------- Hardware Requirements: -Intel(R) processor with support for VT-x, EM64T, and Execute Disable Bit -At least 1GB of available RAM Supported Operating Systems: Windows* 7 (32/64-bit) Windows Vista (32/64-bit) Windows XP SP2 or later (32-bit only) OS X* 10.6 or 10.7 (32/64-bit) will soon be available. Important: Intel HAXM cannot be used on systems without an Intel processor, or an Intel processor lacking the hardware features, described in the "Hardware Requirements" section above. To determine the capabilities of your Intel processor, please visit http://ark.intel.com/ ---------------------------- Known Limitations ---------------------------- Processor Features: Intel HAXM installation will fail if your system does not meet the system requirements, including support for Intel processor features, such as Intel Virtualization Technology (VT). Windows XP: Intel HAXM memory settings cannot be changed using the "Add/Remove Programs" applet in the Control Panel. Please use the installer executable to manage memory allocation settings. Installer Limitation: The Intel HAXM installer for Windows does not currently validate user input for the memory allocation input box. If the "Next" button on the memory allocation page does not work, please verify that the memory setting is valid. Memory Allocation: Changes to Intel HAXM memory settings will take effect when Intel HAXM is restarted. Currently running emulators will continue to use the previous memory setting. Performance Difference: HAXM improve the performance greatly on platform with EPT (Extended Paging Table) support. However, currently there is no hints if the system have EPT or no EPT support. To stop or start Intel HAXM, use the following commands: Windows: Stop: sc stop intelhaxm Start: sc start intelhaxm ---------------------------- Additional Documentation ---------------------------- For detailed installation instructions and the latest release notes, please visit: https://developer.tizen.org/sdk ---------------------------- Copyright (C) 2012 Intel Corporation.
