Taskbar 3.99b (20/12-03)
------------------------

This is BETA software! Use it at your own risk.

News
----
 A lot of bugfixes.
Works better with MagiC, although some bugs in MagiC prevents it from
working as well as it should.
Works better with Jinnee, both under MagiC and N.AES.
Better AV-handling. Most of the AV-stuff is completely re-written.
Lots of bugfixes in the icon code. Some problems under MagiC fixed.
There are still bugs here though, and some things are not completely
implemented either (e.g. the "Icon only" button doesn't do anything
yet), but I wanted to release a beta before Christmas.
New "Assign icon" dialog. Icon.ovl is now obsolete. Assigning icons
is now easier and use a lot less memory.

To do
-----
Finish and clean up the icon code.
Generally clean up the code so the source can be released.
Fix the bugs you people report.
Getting Taskbar to work correctly under XaAES.

Introduction
------------
Taskbar is a Win95/NT-like taskbar, with a list of all (1) running
applications and a start-menu. It's heavily inspired by NT, since
that's what I use at work, but I've tried to improve it in several
areas. E.g. unlike NT, you can drag files to the taskbar and start-
   button.

Requirements
------------
Taskbar is developed under and tested on N.AES 2.0.1 and MagiCMac 6.01.
Tested with Thing and Jinnee 2.01 under N.AES, Jinnee 2.01 under MagiC.

 N.AES >= 1.1.0
 MagiC > 5.0
AV-server. It's tested with Thing and Jinnee 2.
Clocky, it you want to use hotkeys. Warning: Clocky does not work
on my Milan or under MagiCMac, so I haven't been able to test this
  functionality for several years now.

Installation
------------
To install this beta version you must delete or disable any previous
installations of Taskbar.

Then simply unpack this archive and run taskbar.prg.

Configuration
-------------
Right click on the Start-button or Taskbar's background and select
"Configure" from the popup menu to start the configuration program.

Drag buttons to the desktop's trashcan if you don't want Taskbar to
display them.

Use JayGroups II to create a group-file called "Index.grp" (case matters
on case-sensitive filesystems!). Files and folders in this group will
appear in Taskbar's start-menu. Add group-files to Index.grp to create
sub-menus.

NB! The AES is restricted to a total of 64 popups and four levels of
sub-menus, so these limits naturally applies to Taskbar as well. There
is also a limit on 300 menu items.

Auto-starting applications
--------------------------
Create a sub-menu (group) labelled "Start", Taskbar will automatically
start all programs in this group.

"Hidden" features
-----------------
Ctrl + left click on an application (or to be more precise, the button
on the taskbar representing this application) will hide all other
  applications.

Alt + left click will hide the application.

You can drag a files to the taskbar. If you drop them on a button
representing an application, Taskbar will forward the files to this
application using VA_START. Drop them on the Start-button, and the
Start-menu will be opened. The file(s) will then be sent to the application
  or folder you select.

Holding down Alt when selecting an application from the Start-menu will
open the application's directory instead of starting it.

That's it. Enjoy this new version of Taskbar, and let me know if you find
any bugs.
